Varnish is a web accelerator, which has been gaining a lot in popularity lately, because it can increase the load speed of any website, sometimes even by one hundred percent, based on the content. This tool is sometimes called an HTTP reverse proxy too and is used to reduce the overall load on the physical machine and to boost the access speed for the website visitors. Every time a visitor loads a page on a particular Internet site, the web browser request is taken care of by the web server and the requested data is sent as a response. If the Varnish accelerator is activated, it caches the web pages that the visitor opens and in case any of them is opened again, it is served by Varnish and not by the server directly. The boost in the performance comes from the fact that the accelerator handles the web requests tremendously quicker than any web server, which results in much faster browsing speeds for the users. If any data is changed meanwhile, the cached web pages will also be ‘refreshed’ the next time somebody tries to access them.
Varnish in Web Hosting
Varnish comes as an optional upgrade with each web hosting and if you wish to use it, you can add it to your shared web hosting account using the Upgrades section in your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. There are two different features that can be upgraded – the number of instances and the memory. The first one refers to the number of the websites that you would like to employ Varnish for, whereas the second, which comes in increments of 32 megabytes, indicates the maximum amount of data that the platform can store at any given moment. The Hepsia Control Panel’s time and effort saving GUI will enable you to delete or to restart any instance, to check elaborate system logs or to get rid of the platform’s cache with just one click. For maximum results, you can employ a dedicated IP for the websites that will use the platform. With Varnish, your website will load considerably faster, meaning more pleased visitors and potential clients.
Varnish in Semi-dedicated Servers
All our semi-dedicated servers include Varnish by default, so you can use the web accelerator and optimize the speed of any website that you host on our platform. You will get 64 megabytes of system memory dedicated to the Varnish accelerator at no additional charge and you’ll be able to enable an instance with no more than a few mouse clicks from the Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated packages. In case you need more memory, the latter is available in increments of 32 MB in the Control Panel’s Upgrades section and it will be available to you right away. You can also add more instances as an upgrade, so you can choose if a lot of data will be cached for a single site or if the memory will be used by multiple Internet sites. Hepsia will permit you to reboot or to disable any instance, to view the system log associated with it or to clear the cached files using single-click controls. To take full advantage of Varnish, you can set a dedicated IP address for the websites which will use it.
Varnish in Dedicated Servers
You can use Varnish to increase the loading speed of any website that’s hosted on a dedicated server with us when the Hepsia Control Panel is pre-installed on the machine. Not only will you get the data caching platform ready to be used at no additional charge, but you’ll also exert total control over it via the Hepsia Control Panel’s easy-to-use interface. It will take just a click to start or deactivate an instance or to delete the cache for any Internet site that’s using the Varnish platform and if you are more knowledgeable, you can also view the platform’s logs. Varnish comes with at least three gigabytes of system memory for caching purposes, so even if you host many Internet sites on your machine and they all use the Varnish platform, the difference in their performance will be obvious. You will only have to wait for a while till Varnish caches whatever pages the visitors open on their end. The platform works best if the sites use a dedicated IP address, but owing to the fact that our dedicated servers come with 3 free-of-cost IP addresses, you’ll have everything you need.
